CHARLESTON, WV — West Virginia State University is working to make the financial aid process smoother for students throughout the area.
According to the Charleston Gazette Mail, university officials held a free workshop Sunday to help high school students and their parents file the free application for federal student aid for the 2017-2018 school year.
The Director of Student Financial Assistance, Joann Ross, says, “A lot of times the students incorrectly fill out the Fafsa. We’re here to make sure they do it correctly.”
Ross says anyone planning to attend college should file for student aid even if they think they won’t qualify.
The FAFSA program was sponsored by the State Higher Education Policy Commission and the College Foundation of West Virginia.
