LOGAN CO., WV (NEWS RELEASE) – On Thursday, August 31, 2017 the Logan County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the administration at Logan High School concerning the possibility of a teacher at the high school that had sent nude pictures of herself to several of the male students. The administration at the high school advised that they were made aware of the situation when one of the students disclosed that they had pictures of the teacher saved on his phone.
Sgt. Nick Booth who is assigned as the PRO officer at Logan High School was advised of this information by the principal. Sgt. Booth interviewed one of the male students to whom the photos were sent at which time he observed the photos on the student’s cell phone.
The teacher, Tracy Miller started teaching at Logan High School in January, 2017. Numerous photos were sent to several students over the span of several months. Ms Miller was interviewed by Sgt. Booth and confessed to her actions. She advised that she had sent most of the photos through Snapchat. She further advised that she did not recall the number of pictures sent and that she had possibly sent them to as many as five different students.
Miller was arrested by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, September 01, 2017 for 3 counts of Distribution or Exhibition of Obscene Matter to Minors . She was processed at the Logan County Sheriff’s office and arraigned in Logan County Magistrate Court in front of Magistrate Dwight Williamson. She was released on a PR bond.
This investigation is continuing by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department in locating additional students or individuals that may have received inappropriate photos.
