    Rebecca Fernandez


    Rebecca Fernandez joined Newswatch as a Reporter, and quickly got promoted to Weekend Anchor in February, and has come all the way from Florida to pursue her on-air career in Southern West Virginia! Rebecca recently graduated from the University of Miami with a double-major in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations. During her time at UM, she covered several big stories on campus. She also worked as an Associate Producer at Univision Network News throughout her senior year and after graduation, where she gained valuable reporting and producing experience in both English and Spanish. As a trained multi-media journalist, Rebecca is always prepared to cover the big stories that matter to our viewers. She started her career in journalism as a senior in high school when she interned for the local Spanish station TV/Radio Marti. She was then a part of a University of Miami program called UM in DC for her first semester of college, where she studied at American University and interned for FOX News. She then received the Emma Bowen Foundation Scholarship, and began working with Univision Corporation in various departments, which led to her producer position at the Network. Rebecca was born and raised in Miami and is a proud Cuban-American. When she’s not chasing down her next big story, you can find her taking in everything West Virginia has to offer, from outdoor adventures to the beautiful mountains and rich history.
