Princeton Drops Series Opener to Kingsport

Princeton, WV (WOAY) – With home runs dominating the early innings, Princeton and Kingsport seemed destined for a high-scoring opening game of their weekend series.

They would combine for 14 runs, with the Rays rallying to tie the game 6-6, before two late runs for the Mets gave the visitors the win 8-6.

Ronaldo Hernandez, Joey Roach, and Seaver Whalen all hit home runs for the Rays, who remain near the bottom of the East Division standings, but can win the series this weekend.

Bluefield, meanwhile, won 8-5 over Elizabethton in 13 innings to remain a game behind Pulaski for the division lead. The Blue Jays are on a six-game road trip before returning home Thursday.
