MEC Football: WV Wesleyan @ Concord

Athens, WV (WOAY) – A 17-point second quarter was the difference for West Virginia Wesleyan, as the Bobcats broke their six-game losing streak to Concord Thursday, winning 23-18 in Athens.

The Mountain Lions took an early lead after Jonathan Roebuck returned an interception for a touchdown, before Wesleyan responded with 20 unanswered points to end the first half. The two teams also combined for five turnovers in the first half.

Concord also had a fumble returned for a touchdown by Jeremiah Johnson, while Jake Gibson ran for a score in the fourth quarter.

The Mountain Lions head to the University of Charleston next Thursday, as their first three games of 2017 are on weeknights.
