Local Vineyard is the Perfect Romantic Get Away

CRAB ORCHARD–  Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and if a romantic dinner is in your plans, Daniel Vineyard in Crab Orchard has you covered.

Event Coordinator Chad Fox says, “We have a dinner for two on Valentine’s Day. We are hoping to do a three course meal and a bottle of wine with dinner. Everything is done in house for our dinner. We have developed a menu that is going to be specifically paired with our new 2014 pink wine which is a semi dry blush or rose.”

But if you don’t get one of the coveted 20 tables available for the dinner, you can still enjoy the vineyard anytime.

“We are open year round Tuesday through Saturday,” Fox said. ‘Our winter hours do vary with the weather and staff availability. In the summer we offer wine tastings Tuesday through Saturday 10-5. Sometimes we do have private events that close us to the public so we always say to call ahead. But you can come out do a full tasting. It’s $3 per person, $6 if you want to keep the wine glass and that covers the entire tasting with valid ID.’

And they have quite the award winning line-up of wines to choose from.

“Our number one seller here is definitely our blackberry wine which from here in southern WV all the way up to Morgantown and D.C. area, there’s a lot of folks that come through that make the trip here to the vineyard just to stock up on that before they go home,” Fox said.

And Daniel also has something to look forward to and get you through the winter months a little easier.

“We have our largest event coming up and that’s our Spring Wine Festival,” Fox said. “We have done that now for about 18 years and that is the 3rd Saturday in June. It’s a wonderful day for both adults and kids. We have a variety of different things offered like art vendors, crafters, food vendors and live music. This year it will be on June 17 so definitely save the date and mark your calendar for that.”

If you are interested in booking dinner for Valentine’s Day or a tasting event for you and your friends just call the winery at 304-252-9750 because it is all doable on a tank of gas.
