Girls Sectionals – Pocahontas County vs. Fayetteville

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – Fayetteville girls basketball opened its 2017 postseason Tuesday against a Pocahontas County team that won Saturday against Richwood, and was looking for a second win against a 2016 Class A state quarterfinalist.

The game was a back-and-forth contest throughout the evening, tied at 16 after the first quarter. Fayetteville took a 26-24 lead into halftime thanks to Hannah Franklin’s basket in the final 10 seconds.

The Lady Warriors took the lead several times throughout the half, but Autumn Hill’s three-pointer with just over three minutes remaining gave the Lady Pirates a 53-52 lead, and they would go on to win 60-56.

Fayetteville will play Charleston Catholic Thursday in the Class A Region 3 Section 1 final at Oak Hill.
