Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Bluefield girls basketball – the top seed in the Class AA state tournament – is in Friday’s semifinals after a 53-41 quarterfinal win Thursday against River View.
The game was a rematch from two weeks ago, when the Lady Beavers won a sectional championship game in Mercer County.
Bluefield got out to an early 12-0 lead, enjoying success on both sides of the ball. However, River View would rally to narrow the deficit on multiple occasions, tying the game at 32-32 at one point in the second half. The Lady Beavers, though, would make plays late to regain momentum and advance in Charleston.
Bluefield will play Winfield at 7:15 PM on Friday.
