Concord Football Begins 2017 Season Thursday

Athens, WV (WOAY) – The wait is almost over for Concord football, as the Mountain Lions kick off a new season Thursday in Athens.

After a 2-9 record in 2016, the Mountain Lions have a chance to continue a long winning streak when they welcome West Virginia Wesleyan to Callaghan Stadium; Concord has won six straight against the Bobcats.

Head coach Paul Price said Wednesday that junior Jake Gibson will start Thursday’s game, though he expects junior Jake Pruitt will also see significant time in the opening games.

Concord opens 2017 with three Thursday night contests; they visit the University of Charleston on September 7 before hosting UVa-Wise on September 14.
