Bluefield, WV (WOAY) – For a sixth straight year, Bluefield boys basketball is headed to the Class AA state tournament in Charleston.
A year after winning on a last-second shot in Clear Fork, and a couple weeks removed from a last-second home loss to Westside, the Beavers won 71-56 against the Renegades in a Region 3 co-final.
Bluefield gained momentum in the second half, and were led by 22 points from Mookie Collier. while Donta’ Hopkins added 20. Jacob Ellis had 14 points and Shane Jenkins scored 12 for Westside.
The Beavers will be the second seed next week, facing Lincoln at 1 PM March 16. Wyoming East plays that morning as the sixth seed against Chapmanville, as the Warriors won 57-41 against Shady Spring for a second straight trip to Charleston.
